No dental insurance but looking for one with orthodontic in addition, any suggestions?

Actually I have no dental insurance since I have changed my job 2 years ago. Although I am paying for our cares as – 2 adults, 2 children, 2 cleanings and each per year and x-rays as well. I run about $1,200 for the year and it is less expensive for what I pay for dental insurance. Now my 8 year old kid has been referred to an orthodontist for “crowding” problems for his teeth. I don't have any experience with with braces or retainers as he is first in the family who needs this type of care. I was wondering if I could look into the dental insurance but does it covers orthodontia as well? Any information regarding this will be helpful.

Well, I don;t know about yours, but my dental covers orthodontia. It is actually a cap provided with my orthodontia work per person. I think it is something around $1500. When our dds got to the point of needing braces we took out dual dental coverage both dh and I had it. I am not saying this by my self, but it was suggested by the orthodontist's office. In this manner, $1500 was used from my dental plan and $1200 from dh's. The total cost of the braces was somewhere around $4800-$5000. This makes substantial amount of money in my pocket. So, I guess you should go for this Orthodontic Insurance because it is really very beneficial.... so try it.
